The Acoustic Nights Montreal Summer Gala 2011 was on Sat, July 23, 2011, 8:30pm at La Sala Rossa, 4848 St-Laurent, Montreal, 514-284-0122.

Special Event

Hosted by Melina Soochan, this special chapter of Acoustic Nights Montreal featured the 3rd place winner of the June 25, 2011 Acoustic Nights Teen Songwriting Competition. Hailey Samm performed originals and covers accompanied by a full professional band, to open the concert, along with Melina Soochan, for the headliner of this special event, the band SuperNova and the Big Red Giants.

1. SuperNova & TheBig RedGiants (SN'BRG)
   Blues/Rock'n'Roll/Folk

   SN'BRG is a montreal based band of 4 musicians, 3 of whom are singer/songwriters whose influences are rooted in blues, rock and folk. Their collaboration over the past year has allowed them to push the boundaries of their own individual creativity as well as each other's. They are a group of musicians whose goal is to write and play music with as much energy and passion as they can give. The idea is simple... WE are SuperNova... WE are TheBig RedGiants.

2. Hailey Samm (pop/rock)
   3rd Place Winner of ANMTSC 2011

   Hailey Samm, 17, 3rd place winner of the ANMTSC 2011 on June 25, 2011, has just graduated from Lower Canada College. Hailey has been involved with numerous artistic and humanitarian projects in her school and in the community (fine arts committee, annual arts showcase Café Cabaret, dancing, raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and organ donation). She has been studying and playing guitar and piano for about 3 years as well as taking voice lessons. Influenced in her music by Taylor Swift & Katy Perry, Hailey tells us I can't wait to share my voice and music with the world.

3. Melina Soochan (indie pop/jazz)

   A native Montrealer, Melina is a soulful and sophisticated singer/songwriter and pianist, whose style is a distinctive yet unique blend of pop, indie, jazz and blues. A classically trained pianist, she pushes herself beyond the limits of conventional pop and adds a little something extra to every track. Melina is no stranger to the stage. Her first love is LIVE PERFORMANCE. When she's not in the studio recording songs for her debut full-length album (due summer 2011), you can see and hear Melina in various venues and events in and around Montreal and Toronto. She currently sings every Thursday at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, where she showcases popular jazz and contemporary songs as well as her quirky original music. In 2009 she released a 6-song EP City of Love, and independently produced 2 music videos, X-Ray Eyes (currently on rotation on Bravo! and CJNT), as well as one for her title track song City of Love. She has recently filmed another music video, The Mama Song, soon to be released as promo for her upcoming album. Melina is also an avid entrepreneur, having founded the Acoustic Nights Montreal series. Her organization has expanded into the youth sector in 2011 with the introduction of the Teen Songwriting Competition, which she hopes will become an annual event.
