Melina Soochan (pop/jazz)
Melina is
a soulful singer/songwriter and pianist from Montreal, whose style is a unique
blend of pop, indie, jazz and blues. At 26, she has already released 2 albums
("Hold On" in 2011, and a 6-song EP "City
of Love" in 2009), and independently produced 3 music videos: "X-Ray
Eyes" (currently on rotation on Bravo! and CJNT), "City
of Love" (the title track of her EP), and more recently "The
Mama Song", as promo for her new album. Having performed at festivals
like Indie Music Toronto 2010, and renowned
venues like Montreal's Upstairs and House
of Jazz, Melina is a regular on stages across the province. She is
also an avid entrepreneur, having founded the Acoustic
Nights Montreal singer-songwriter series which organizes local events
such as live music showcases and teen songwriting competitions, in an effort
to support local music and art. -
Guest Appearance: Isabelle Stern
A
self-taught vocalist, Isabelle recently had
an amazing experience on the television show called "The
Next Star" on YTV. Chosen from 10,000 kids from across Canada to be
part of a top 6, she got to write her own single called "Ive
Got A Crush On You" with a producer. Now with her own music video,
and a second song/music video called "All I Want For
Christmas Is You", Isabelle recently won first Place for Blainville
en Fête which gave her the opportunity to sing 3 songs in front
of an anticipated crowd of 20 thousand people. Her music is a mix of soul/pop/R&B
and she is thrilled to perform here tonight! -
Jolies Alien Babes (Cabaret/Folk-Pop/Rock a Billy)
We
are from the Laurentians where life is rarely dull amongst nature. We are Jody
Anker, Nakia Lemieux and Eloi
Amasse but please, call us Jolies Alien Babes.
From time to time we abduct others to play along with. We are bilingual group
who have fun crossing boundaries by chanting, yodelling, rockin', and surrendering
ourselves to however it lands on the table of creative prowess. We have a
self titled album, with all songs written by Jody
Anker, and co-produced with Barney Beninger and Carlos
Ramirez. We wish to make our offerings with hope there are musings
for you earthlings to enjoy! -
Guest Appearance: Hailey Samm
Hailey
Samm is an aspiring singer/songwriter, a budding artist, dancer and
musician, enthusiastic about expressing herself through music. Many of her
life experiences have inspired her to write lyrics that reveal her deepest
emotions and thoughts. Being on stage empowers her and makes her feel invincible
despite whatever challenges she may be facing at the time. She plays guitar
and has recently revisited the piano as a tool to expand her range of music
composition. She enjoys listening to, writing, and performing a variety
of different styles of music including pop, rock, and even country. To date,
she has performed at multiple venues, including "Chantez
Nous Votre Cinéma", "A Breath of Fresh
Air", and was in charge of the student arts events throughout her
high school. She was also a winner of the "2011
Acoustic Nights Montreal Teen Songwriting Competition" and subsequently
performed at the summer gala in July
2011. This past summer she worked at an arts camp in charge of the "Glee
Club" teaching songs and matching choreography. She has devoted much
time and energy to raising funds and awareness for Cystic

Ainsley McNeaney (Orchestral indie-pop)
Having
recently immigrated to beautiful Montreal from the badlands of Toronto, singer,
songwriter and pianist Ainsley McNeaney brings
her intelligent, eclectic brand of indie-pop to tonight's stage. Her first
album, True Story Orchestra, features a whimsical
songbook accompanied by a full orchestra, and has been hailed as a mature
and insightful inaugural recording. Ainsley has performed at many reputable
venues across Canada and in New York City, and recently made her international
debut in Tel Aviv, Israel. Armed with profound lyrics and a soulful voice
to match, and accompanied by an ensemble of the finest cats this side of
Outremont, she will make your heart very happy with tales of love, hope and
